Enjoy the magic of "Books on the Big Screen" from the leafy comfort of your local park. Grab a rug, pack a picnic, and come along to this year's free outdoor screenings of film adaptations of classic children's books. Food and drink will also be available for purchase from community groups. (Starts Friday August 14th to Saturday September 6th, check the website or programme films screened in your area)

A Tribute to Charles Chauvel: Great Queenslander and Cinema Pioneer

This year marks not only Queensland's sesquicentenary but also the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Charles Chauvel, a great Queenslander and one of Australian cinema's true pioneers.

Che

Steven Soderbergh directs Benicio Del Toro in this stunning two-parts opus based on the Che Guevara's Reminiscences of the Cuban Revolutionary War and Bolivian Diary.

Silent Film

Take advantage of a free screening of this innovative German chamber drama, one of the first films to experiment with unconventional camerawork.

Ron West will accompany this screening on the City Hall pipe organ with a specialty composed score.
